Davao City (24 October) -- Davao City first district Representative Prospero “Boy” Nograles debunked the supposed lack of job opportunities in Davao City stating that there are plenty of jobs for people who persevere to find one.
“There are those who complain that there are no job opportunities here but don’t find time or are lazy to look. And there are others who just don’t know where to go to look for jobs.” Said Congressman Nograles who is currently the Majority Floor Leader of the House of Representatives
To address the problem of persevering job-seekers, Congressman Nograles partnering with the Department of Labor and Employment for the second year anew have organized a two-day Jobs fair which will be held at the SM City Davao entertainment plaza this October 25-26.
There are 3,000 vacancies here in Davao City coming from 35 companies that will participate in the fair, while there would be 8,000 overseas jobs available. “The jobs fair is a proof that employment opportunities here is not lacking.” Said Cong. Nograles.
According to Ophelia Domingo of DOLE, the jobs fair will feature an employment or career guidance counseling, it is meant to guide those job-seekers who have difficulty in looking for jobs or being accepted in one. Ms. Domingo also said that the jobs fair would have access to Philjobnet, which is an online job-matching site.
The Cong. Nograles-DOLE jobs fair which has attracted other job-seekers from different parts in the region is part of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s thrust in providing jobs and employment to many Filipinos, an integral aspect of her economic development agenda. (PIA XI) [top]
