Feature: Road for peace and dev't at Langcong-Sarmiento Abubakar complex

Davao City (31 October) -- The occupation of Camp Abubakar at Buldon, Maguindanao, triggers the lost of hundreds of lies and damaged of millions of properties within the Langcong-Sarmiento-Abubakar complex.

After the fall of Camp Abubakar, former President his Excellency Joseph Ejercito Estrada, immediately orders the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other concerned government agencies to construct roads, bridges and deliver basic needs and services to the constituents in order to save lives and to address peace and order situation which are paramount in developing the area.

The AFP campaign methodology of win-hold-win brought the 54th Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army to rehabilitate the construction on the damaged infrastructures cause by the conflict between the government and the MILF forces.

Likewise, the change in the national leadership with her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo at the helm further reinforced the concept of having an all weather concrete road known as " AMBAL IRRIGATION ROAD COMPONENT PROJECT" to the Maguindanaoan people. The ambal river pump irrigation project has three (3) components namely; 1) the pump and pumping station completed in 1992; 2) the road component that started in 2000; 3) the irrigation appurtenances for later years.

Due to hostilities between the government and the MILF, the project was disturbed since construction was suspended until such time that the National irrigation Admind all other local government officials have entered and executed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the continue construction of all approved projects.

This tasked the 54th Engineer Brigade of 6ID PA, tasked by the higher headquarters to continue the implementation of the Ambal Irrigation Road Project at the Municipalities of Matanog and Barira and all of Maguindanao Province. The effort resulted to the accomplishment of 9,058 KMS road with Overflow Bridge and concrete line canals strategically constructed based on NIA designed and specification. Concrete pavement ended at vicinity Camp Iranun and continued with graveled roadway with concrete line canal going to the former residence of late MILF CHAIRMAN HASHIM SALAMAT. These projects manifested that the government is sincere on the campaign for unity and better peace and order situation in the area that will contributes to great socio- economic development in the country.
