6 NVizcaya towns support early childhood care, development program
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (13 November) -- Six more municipalities here have signified their support to the national government's Early Childhood Care and Development Program (ECCD).
The municipalities are Dupax del Sur, Bambang, Villaverde, Kayapa, Ambaguio and Bagabag. They were selected this year to complete the nine towns to implement ECCD programs. Other six municipalities will be included for 2008.
"The expansion of the program was tackled during a recent planning workshop where six more towns will be included as pilot areas," said Lita Tabudlo, provincial social welfare and development officer.
ECCD, a comprehensive and sustainable program for childhood care involving through inter-agency collaboration among the government, service providers, families, communities, non-government organizations and academic institutions is funded by the Council for the Welfare for Children(CWC) with counterpart assistance from local government unit beneficiaries.
ECCD's inception in the province started in March 2006, when governor Luisa Cuaresma, along with the local chief executives of Kasibu, Sta. Fe and Quezon towns entered into a memorandum of agreement for the program.
The concerned agencies have implemented rehabilitation of health and day care centers, procurement of micronutrient supplements and assorted vegetables seeds, goods for supplemental feeding, medical supplies and learning materials such as handbooks among others. (PIA-NVizcaya) [top]
