Sec. Cabral to grace Tindahan Natin launching in Antique barangay
San Jose, Antique (13 November) -- The National Food Authority (NFA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in coordination with the local government unit of San Jose, Antique will launched the Tindahan Natin (TN) project in Barangay San Pedro, San Jose, Antique today. The ceremony will be attended by Hon. Esperanza Cabral, M.D., Secretary of the DSWD.
The new Tindahan Natin will serve 1,453 households and consumers of its neighboring Barangays namely Durog, Igbonglo and Pantao. Barangay San Pedro is seven kilometers away from the town proper of San Jose de Buenavista in Antique. Its Barangay folks earn their livelihood through fishing, farming, employment in private/government sector and non-government organizations and other self employment activities. TN in San Pedro is operated by Ma. Elena Epoc and started its operation last September, 2006.
Tindahan Natin project is a national government initiative for job generation, livelihood and food security. The project provides low-priced but good quality rice and noodles to low income families through a store jointly identified and endorsed by the DSWD and Municipal Social Development Officer (MSWDO) of the local government units (LGUs).
A total of eighty five (85) Tindahan Natin outlets are targeted to be established in the province of Antique before the year ends. So far, five are already operational.
