Feature: Surigao barangay folk rave over town's info quiz

TANDAG, SURIGAO DEL SUR (November 22) -- Hundreds of high school students and residents of barangay Magroyong in the interior town of San Miguel witnessed the two hour information quiz on Friday, November 17, hosted by San Miguel National High School (SMNHS), Magroyong Campus. The info quiz was the 1st ever held outside the Poblacion.

Maryrose Tabang, student of SMNHS of Magroyong grabbed first place. Following was Melape Armenia who got the second place. Both are 4th year students and coached by Ms Charito Jimenez.

Tabang bagged a cash prize, trophy, certificate of recognition and will represent San Miguel to the provincial info quiz finals on December 5 which will be held at the Municipal Tree Park of Marihatag. Armenia also got a cash prize, trophy and a certificate.

Raquillo Uriarte, a 16 years old 4th year student of SMNHS, Poblacion Annex got the third place. He received a cash prize, trophy and a certificate.

Other contestants who got consolation prizes were: Rhea Liza Dacera, Poblacion Annex; Joseph Samonte and Joy Sumaoy all of Sagbayan Annex and Shenrell T. Madelo, Mahayag Annex.

The annual info quiz in the Municipalities, spearheaded by the Community Development Information Center (CDIC) Program is held in close coordination with the LGUs and the Philippine Information Agency. It is aimed to drum-up awareness among high school students on the burning issues and programs of the government and other important facts and statistics. (PIA-Surigao del Sur) [top]
