Feature: Spellbound by Godspell
Davao City (28 November) -- For the past 8 years, LCB-PAC has cooked up a variety of entertainment for the Davao audience with Broadway delights that hopefully whetted their appetite for more.
More than the usual fare, the pioneer performing arts center in Davao has produced musicals with biblical themes, such as Candle's "Antshillvania" in 2001 based on the parable of The Prodigal Son. And Webber & Rice's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" in 2003 and 2004 based on the celebrated story of the dreamer of Genesis 37-46.
Now, another production is in the oven promising a palatable repast of parables and biblical teachings guaranteed to satisfy all who hunger and thirst after God's Word. In the Broadway Musical tradition of song, dance and comic drama comes GODSPELL â€" the Gospel according to St. Matthew set to music by Stephen Schwartz from a script by John Michael Tebelak.
LBC-PAC's GODSPELL, adheres to most of the original concept of the musical, but has taken steps to consider local audience perception and sensibilities in its over-all adaptation.
This musical adaptation features the inspired directorial collaboration of Bing Locsin, Les Merquita and Josie Tejada, combined with the choreography of Ivy Talaban and Yamy Lu, Ritz Beltran and Julia Ruste, plus the musical magic of John Alontaga and Tetet Tolentino-Aviola.
A production of LCB-Performing Arts Center in cooperation with Victory Christian Fellowship. Showdates is on Saturday, December 2, 2006 and Sunday December 3 with matinees at 3:00pm and galas at 7:30pm at the CAP auditorium. All tickets sold at only P100.
