Sto. Tomas barangay officials receive financial aid

Davao City (6 December) -- Provincial Ordinance No. 2006-003 - "An Ordinance Providing Hospitalization death benefit and Burial Assistance to Barangay Officials and Functionaries" came as a big help to barangay officials in Sto. Tomas.

The approval of the said ordinance last April 3, 2006 by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is a proof of the working committee's effort to provide aid down to the barangay levels as these was the goal of Board Member Hon. Salvador R. Royo, Chairman of Health & Social services and members. The said ordinance was sponsored by Board Member Meliton D. Lemos.

Among the recipients who received the said assistance were: Mrs. Jeannie Magallanes, the widowed wife of the late Barangay captain Benjamin magallanes, Dominador Jadraque for Mr. Mauro Jadraque, a Lupon Member of Barangay Kinamayan and Fernando Ondoy for Mr. Analito Ondoy, a Lupon Member of Barangay Pantaron. Each received P 20,000.00 in check and was personally given by Hon. Neljun C. Esdrelon, the provincial Liga ng mga Barangay President.

The said assistance includes the Barangay Officials, Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Day Care Workers, Barangay Sanitary Inspectors, Barangay Tanods and Lupong Tagapamayapa. The funds of the said assistance will be taken from the General Fund or supplemental Budget of the Provincial Government. (MIO-Sto. Tomas, DDN/PIA) [top]
