DBM resets activities due to typhoon Seniang
Tacloban City (December 18) -- Director Imelda Laceras of the Department of Budget and Management Regional Office 8 announced the resetting of activities due to typhoon Seniang.
Director Laceras said that the Year-end conference of the Region Eight Association of the League of Budget Officers which was scheduled on December 12 to 13, 2006 was reset to December 18 -019, 2006 at the same venue which is Leyte Park Hotel.
Director Laceras added that the Training on Procurement Reform Act (RA 9184) which was originally scheduled for December 13, 14 and 15, 2006 will also be rescheduled to January 16, 17 and 18, 2007. This training will be held at the Leyte Normal University.
These are the only two activities lined up for 2006 which have not yet been implemented, Director Laceras said. Nevertheless, pending unforeseen circumstances, Director Laceras said that the Department of Budget and Management in the Region will see to it that these are pushed through.
DBM has its hands full the whole year of 2006, Director Laceras said. Among the major accomplishments of the department in the Region is the opening of the Procurement Service in the Region and the opening of the PX Mart which makes available office supplies and equipments and basic commodities, respectively, to the government agencies and the government employees.
Only this week the Agency announced the availability of computer units at very affordable price and are available not only to the government agencies but also to government employees.
Last week, DBM also released the implementing rules and regulations for the Administrative Order issued by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on December 11, granting the release of Performance Bonus in the amount of not less than P6,000.00 each for every government employee whether he or she is a permanent, casual or contractual employee. The order provided that the Performance Bonus be released not earlier than December 15, 2006.
Director Laceras assures the people of Region 8 that the regional office of DBM will, in 2007, serve the public and its clients with the same if not with more vigor and efficiency as it has extended this year. (PIA 8) [top]
