PIA Press Release

Improved economy to provide better services - Rep. Garcia

By Rose B. Palacio

Davao City (17 January) -- Davao City second district representative Vincent Garcia said the continuous improvement of the country's economy, the increasing strength of the peso, and the ongoing fiscal reforms of the Administration would provide better basic social services to the public.

Congressman Garcia appealed for a better understanding on what the present government has been trying to do in: providing 10-million and more jobs for the Filipino people; accessibility of farmers to transport their product all over the country; economic recovery and the provision of all necessary basic services on health, education, etc.

"These are part of the administration's moral obligation to help turn around the country into economic prosperity", Garcia said.

Contrary to what others are trying to project, Congressman Garcia said the government is sincere and dedicated to bring progress in the country and that the focus is to uplift the lives of every Filipino family.

"We are also concentrating on pressing matters that will give better opportunities to our people like the increase in the salary of 125 per day for our people to attain better lives. We also need tax measures to pay our debts and address our economic woes," he explained

Congressman Garcia said the government and the House have been looking for more ways and means to raise revenues adding that "this reflects our united front to address the fiscal problem and present a debt default by our government."

"We can reassure our creditors about our resolve to continue paying our debts and we have no intention to default on them as what others has been trying to project", he said. (PIA-XI) [top]
