DAR XI surpasses 2006 land target
DAVAO CITY (17 January) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Region XI has surpassed anew its 2006 target in land acquisition and distribution.
Regional director Rodolfo Inson said the year 2006 is regarded as the department's banner year in implementing the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) as it satisfactorily accomplished not only the program on land distribution but also that of the other programs on support services and agrarian justice.
Inson said that DAR XI has distributed a total of 7,242 hectares out of 7,150 as its target or 101 in terms percentage accomplishment, transferring full ownership of agricultural lands to 6,238 farmer-beneficiaries in the region.
The provincial office of Davao del Sur has given out 2,154 hectares out of its target of 2,100; Davao Oriental distributed 1,901 out of 1,900 and Davao del Norte's 1,475 hectares out of its target of 1,510 hectares.
The DAR provincial office in Compostela Valley also exceeded its target by distributing 1,166 hectares out of its working scope of 1,150 hectares while Davao City distributed 511 hectares out of a total target of 500 hectares.
Inson cited with greatest acknowledgments the support and cooperation extended by the non-government organizations (NGOs), people's organizations (POs), regional, provincial and municipal agrarian reform offices, local government units and government agencies because without which, it might not have accomplished its target.
