65.57% of 15-year-olds enter labor force
Davao City (23 January) -- 65.57% of the 2,428 million persons 15 years old were in the labor force and 34.43% were not.
Around 1,592 million persons were in the labor force population in January 2006, increasing the number by 2.45% from its level of 1.554 million a year ago.
The Labor Force Participation Rate however decreased by 1.36 percentage point, from 66.93 in January 2005 to 65.57 percent in January 2006.
Persons not in the labor force, like housewives, students, disabled and retired persons increased by 70 thousand or 9.13 percent, from 767 thousand a year.
The number of employed persons increased by 7.38% to 1.498 million in January 2006 from 1.395 million for the period a year ago.
With the increase of 103 thousand in employment, the employment rate also increased by 4.33 percentage point from 89.77 percent in January 2005 to 94.10 percent in January 2006. (MCD/PIA XII) [top]
