Join a Chemic Relief Science Camp

Davao City (28 March) -- Spice up your summer! The Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs, Inc. (PSYSC), in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), invites all high school students from both public and private schools to join its 36th National Summer Camp on April 9-13, 2007 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Laguna.
With the theme "CHEmic Relief: Trancend Entropy!" uncover the chemistry of Life through lectures, fun-filled workshops and educational trip.
A registration fee of Five Thousand Four Hundred Pesos (PhP 5,400.00) will be collected to augment the board and lodging, camp kits and shirts, educational trips and insurance coverage. However, a discount of One Thousand Pesos (PhP 1,000.00) will be given to students and teachers from affiliated schools.

Participants' reservation shall be on a first come first served basis. Participation forms are also available at the DOST XI Regional Office at Bajada, Davao City.
Meanwhile, DOST Regional Director Ms. Delia Moran-Morados would have retired officially last September 26, 2006 when she celebrated her 65th birthday. However, her valuable government service was extended until March 26, 2007.
Madel (as she is fondly called) started her career first as a science mentor in 1962 and later joined the Science Agency in 1971 as the Regional Science Promotion Officer. In 1982, she was appointed as the Regional Coordinator of all merged science field offices and became the Chief Science Research Specialist of the DOST in 1988. She was promoted as the regional director in 2000.
Madel has served the department passionately. She has worked for various programs and projects under her leadership. Among the projects she spearheaded are the S&T Park, the Mobile IT Classroom, the Mobile S&T Laboratory, the Philippines Science High School-Southern Mindanao Campus, the Mindanao Science and Technology Centrum, and organized and supported several R & D Consortia.
A farewell party will be held for Madel Moran-Morados as a send-off tribute to her by her colleagues in the regional office on March 26, 2006 at Foresthill Resort, Davao City.
