Region 8 welcomes entry of Kasayuran News Network

Tacloban City (April 13) -- Eastern Visayas welcomes the launching today, April 13, of the latest addition to the media entities, the Kasayuran News Network.

Mr. Nestor Abrematea, the executive producer, informed the Philippine Information Agency that the inauguration and launching will be at 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon in Dulag, Leyte.

The news channel will be carried by the Tala Vision Cable Television over channel 2 which covers the towns of Dulag and Julita in the second district of Leyte, and Tolosa and Babatngon in the first district of Leyte.

Mr. Abrematea bared that the cable TV Network has more than 8, 000 subscribers in the abovementioned municipalities.

Television is now considered as the number one medium of communication. The latest survey showed that there are more people who watch television than those who listen to the radio.

Television, therefore, is a good medium in reaching out to the people, to inform them about the activities, the programs and the undertakings as well as the performance of government.

Among those invited to deliver congratulatory message on the formal launching, is PIA Regional Director Olive Tiu.

It is expected that the Kasayuran News Network will perform its responsibility of informing the people about the truth so that they will become citizens who are able to make their own decisions and empowered to plan for themselves and that of their communities. (PIA 8) [top]
