PGMA to attend Boao Forum for Asia in China
Manila (18 April) -- President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is scheduled to leave for a 2 day visit to China on April 20-21.
The President will be attending the annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia, a non-government committed to the promotion of regional economic integration.
In an interview, the President said “it will now cut down to April 20-21 and only in Boao, so all agreements that may have had to be signed in other areas because I will also (originally) visit five cities—should be done in Boao if the signatories agree.”
The foreign Visit Secretariat in Malacañang had originally planned and weeklong trip for the President but had so scale down the President itinerary after the First Gentleman was confined in a local hospital after undergoing a 10-hour open heart survey.
Earlier, the Chief Executive has set a 12-hour itinerary to China but with the improving health of the First Gentleman, Pres. Arroyo is extending her trip to two days, or April 20-21.
The forum is committed to promoting regional economic integration and bringing Asian countries even closer to their development goals. (pbc/PIA 12) [top]
