Leyte hosts 51st BSP annual national council meeting

Tacloban City (April 24) -- Ever conscious that every chance to welcome visitors, is a chance to promote the investment and tourism potentials of the province, Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla announced that the Province of Leyte through the Boy Scout of the Philippines Leyte Council, is hosting the 51st Annual National Annual Meeting of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines on May 23-25, 2007.

Governor Petilla said that about 500 to 800 Boy Scout Officers and National Executive Board from all the BSP Councils all over the Philippines are expected to attend the annual gathering which will also be the venue for the election of the members of the board.

To be held at the Leyte Academic Center, the Annual National Council Meeting activities will revolve around the theme, "One World, One Promise."

Already the executive committee which is composed of Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla as the chairman and Congresswoman Remedios L. Petilla as co-chairperson, together with the members of the committee and the heads of the different working committees, have already ironed out the activities for the annual national event.

The different working committees have already laid their tentative plans and everything is being done in order to prepare the venue according to the requirements and needs of the Annual National Council Meeting, from cooling system to the Business Center with telefax, computer with printer and scanner, internet facilities and photo coying machines.

Aside from the Tours Counter and the concierge stand at the main entrance with public address system, a Trade Fair which will feature products and souvenir items made in Eastern Visayas and a Garden Show to include flowering plants, fruits and vegetables will also be featured.

The Province of Leyte will host a Barrio Fiesta at the Capitol Terrace for the welcome dinner in the evening of May 23 while Congresswoman Remedios L. Petilla will host the Evening by Beach Karisyuhan, Best of Leyte Sumsuman and Bahalina.

As Leyte is known for its ingenuity in hosting events, the organizing committee is leaving no stones unturned to make the stay of the delegates memorable and fruitful so that they will come back to Leyte again and again. (PIA 8) [top]
