PRC 8 conducts exams to ensure global competitiveness of Filipino professionals

Tacloban City (29 April) -- The Professional Regulatory Commission Regional Office 8 announced the conduct of various examinations aimed to ensure the Administration's thrust for the Filipino Professionals to continue to be globally competitive.

Director Gerry Palabyab through Ms. Norma Tupaz informed that the examinations for criminologists will be conducted on May 5, 6 and 7, 2007 at the ST. Paul 's Business School at Pawing, Palo, Leyte.

On June 10 and 12, 2007, Ms. Tupaz said, the licensure examinations for nurses will be conducted at the Divine Word University while on July 4, 5 and 6, 2007, the examinations for Agriculturists will be conducted at the Divine Word University also.

The licensure examinations for teachers will be conducted on August 26, 2007 at the St. Paul's Business School, Divine Word University and other public schools which will be announced later.

Ms. Tupaz underscored that the deadline for application for the repeaters in the LET exams is on April 30 while for the first timers, the deadline for submission of applications is on May 31.

Ms. Tupaz called on those concerned to please observe the deadlines as no extension will be made.

Director Palabyab, time and again, has said that the Professional Regulation Commission is the instrument of the Filipino people in securing for the nation a reliable, trustworthy and progressive system of developing professionals whose personal integrity and spiritual values are solid and respected, whose competencies are globally competitive, and whose commitment to serve the Filipino nation and the whole community is strong and steadfast.

The Commission administers, implements, and enforces the regulatory policies of the national government with respect to the regulation and licensing of the 42 professions under its jurisdiction through the Professional Regulatory Boards. The professions include Accountancy, Aeronautical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agriculture, Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Criminology, Customs Brokers, Dentistry, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Environmental Planning, Fishery Technology, Foresters, Geodetic Engineering, and Geology.

Other examinations administered by PRC are Guidance Counseling, Interior Design, Landscape, Architecture, Librarians, Marine Deck Officers, Marine Engineer Officers, Master Plumbers, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Technology, Medicine, Metallurgical Engineering, Midwifery, Mining Engineering, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, Professional Teachers, Radiological and X-Ray Technology, Sanitary Engineering, Social Workers, Sugar Technology, and Veterinary Medicine.
