Region 8 PESO managers strengthen commitment to PGMA’s job generation program
Tacloban City (April 30) -- Public Employment Service Office Managers from all over the Region vowed to strengthen their commitment to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s priority thrust of generating about 10,000 jobs by 2010.
The PESO managers from more than fifty Public Employment Service Offices from the different municipalities all over the Region, made the commitment during the Department of Labor PESO Congress cum Assessment held on April 14-15 at the Biliran Garden Resort in Naval, Biliran, Mr. Virgilio Doroja Jr., DOLE 8 Information Officer informed PIA.
Mr. Doroja said that during the said Congress, DOLE Director Forter Puguon cited the PESO managers for their commendable performance in the employment facilitation program of DOLE and the local government units.
Director Puguon also commended the local chief executives for recognizing the value of forging partnership with the Department of Labor even as he looks forward to a strengthened and closer partnership with the local government units through the PESO.
The successful Congress became the venue for the PESO managers to share their best practices and to ventilate their concerns relative to the PESO operationalization at their level.
Further, Director Puguon said that the Congress served as an opportunity to identify and prioritize employment-related programs for the constituents in the various local government units.
In line with their unwavering commitment to President Arroyo’s job generation program, the PESO managers have implemented programs like Jobs Fair, SPES, Career Guidance and Employment Counselling, Tulay 2000, Philjobnet and referral services.
As a whole, the overall assessment on the PESO program of DOLE yielded a very positive result with the recognition of its relevance and importance to the constituents of the local government units. (PIA 8) [top]
