Muslim community backs Rody, Sara and anti-terror drive

By Rose B. Palacio

Davao City (4 May) -- Muslim leaders assured their full support to Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and his daughter, Sara including government's drive against terrorism to thwart terror attacks in the city.

The expression of support was made by ULAMA League of the Philippines Chair Mahmoud Adilao and Muslim leaders during the ARENA XI radio forum over DXRP Radyo ng Bayan anchored by Josette Olivera and the PIA (PIA).

Chair Adilao said the Muslim communities conveyed assurance of their support to the Mayor and vowed to keep watch on their respective communities for the presence of terrorist that may use their areas as staging points for a possible attack.

Some terrorists may seek sanctuary in Muslim communities scattered in various parts in the city but we will not allow it to happen, Adilao said.

The ULAMA group of Muslim leaders serves as a coordinating body of the city government in addressing the needs and the problems affecting the Muslim residents in Davao City.

In a comment, Chair Adilao also said the Muslim communities will also help government in watching the mid-term polls in order to achieve the President's goal of attaining a credible, honest, clean and peaceful election.

We are also supporting the peace talks which might resume after election and hopes for its success in achieving a lasting peace in Mindanao region, Adilao said.

Presently, the ULAMA League is conducting an education drive regarding the election for the Muslim group to be able to be properly guided on what to do during election and vote wisely, he said. (PIA XI) [top]
