Tacloban City (May 4) -- About 16 websites of member agencies and sectoral committee members of the Regional Development Council in Eastern Visayas have already been developed and are now operational.

This was revealed by the National Economic and Development Authority Region 8 Director Buenaventura C. Go-soco, Jr. who is the Vice Chairman of the Regional Development Council of Eastern Visayas.

Director Go-soco said that as of end of April, the 16 websites of the government agencies and sectoral committee members have been developed for free hosted by EVISNET. These agencies include Maritime Industry Authority, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Bureau of Local Government Finance, Parole and Probation Administration, Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Information Agency, Department of Education, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Department of Public Works and Highways, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, PAG-IBIG Fund, Commission on Population.

Eastern Visayas Online ( is the portal for all Regional Development Council (RDC) VIII members' website.

Director Go-soco expressed his gratitude to the agencies for their cooperation and support to the implementation of the EV Online Project of the Regional Development Council of Eastern Visayas.

RDC Resolution No. 43 series of 2006 approved the implementation of the EV Online Project in order to enhance the interconnectivity of the member agencies in terms of information dissemination and better linkage.

The same resolution, according to Director Go-soco provided for the turnover of the completed websites to the concerned agencies. This means that the monitoring and updating of the websites will already be the responsibility of the concerned agency.

In view of this, Director Go-soco said that EVISNet will soon turn over to the respective agencies their websites for monitoring and regular updating.

Director Go-soco added that the respective agency's webmaster is invited for a one-on-one briefing on how to update the websites. The webmasters concerned are urged to call Mr. Peter Phillip Pates of EVISNet at 323 7214 or 524-9287 for the briefing schedule.

Director Go-soco congratulated the agencies with their new and functional websites and enjoined the other agencies to complete the requirements so that their websites will also be developed. (PIA 8) [top]
