BFAR-13 observes Fisherfolk Month

BUTUAN CITY (May 4) -- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Caraga Region is spearheading the celebration of the Fisherfolk Month which is celebrated every month of May.
In a written statement of BFAR-13 Regional Director Alauya R. Olama, the celebration will be highlighted with the implementation of Fisherfolk Directorship by the fisherfolk leaders in the bureau at the national and regional levels.
According to Dir. Olama, the activity aims to dramatize and popularize fisherfolk empowerment and participation in nation-building being the government's partners in poverty alleviation and security program.
Meanwhile, Danilo Boglosa, the new Fisherfolk Director for BFAR-13, will also be formally installed today, May 4, 2007. Dir. Boglosa is the former Fisherfolk representative of Surigao del Norte.
According to Dir. Olama, Boglosa is the third Fisherfolk Director since the organization was established in 2005. (PIA-13) [top]
