DOH 8 adopts one-stop shop policy in licensing and accreditation

Tacloban City (May 4) -- In line with the President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's thrust of providing fast and efficient service to the people, the Department of Health (DOH) Eastern Visayas has adopted and implemented the One Stop Policy in the licensing and accreditation of Health, Food and Drug facilities and establishments in the Region.

DOH Regional Office 8 Director Benita Pastor through Information Office Ms. Marissa A. Nicolasora, informed that by adopting this system, the office will be able to provide quick, prompt and appropriate technical assistance and services to would-be applicants for initial and renewal of licenses and accreditation of health, food and drug and other health related establishments and facilities.

Director Pastor call on those who would like to apply for licenses and accreditation of their health facilities may visit the office of the Regional Director for this purpose. These include applicants for health facilities such as pharmacy, bakery, drug and food distributor, food processor and manufacturer, BNB's, hospitals and dental clinics, laboratories, drug testing centers, water refilling stations and embalmers, among others.

Director Pastor added that a Food and Drug Regulations Officer and Health Facility Regulatory Officer will be assigned to hold offices at the Regional Director's Conference Room in order to accommodate the clients.

This will mean that the clients will not have to go to and from one office to another in facilitating their licenses and accreditation, they will just go to the Regional Director's Conference Room and transact their business there.

The Department of Health is the principal health agency in the Philippines. It is responsible for ensuring access to basic public health services to all Filipinos through the provision of quality health care and regulation of providers of health goods and services.

Given the mandate, DOH is both a stakeholder in the health sector and a policy and regulatory body for health. As a major player, DOH is a technical resource, a catalyzer for health policy and a political sponsor and advocate for health issues in behalf of the health sector.

Director Pastor said that the Department of Health will continue in its pursuit of the Department's mission of giving the best and efficient service to the Filipino people. (PIA 8) [top]
