by Robert E. Roperos
BUTUAN CITY (May 8) -- The Department of Education (DepEd), Bislig City Division recently conducted an in-service training (NSET) aimed to orient school heads and other key officials of the division on the provisions of Republic Act 9155, authorizing the school heads to fully implement the school policies to ensure efficient and quality education.
In a weekly program of DepEd-Caraga in one of the local radio stations here, Roland Ugmad, DepEd-Bislig City public information officer said that under R.A. 9155, the school heads are also responsible for the learning outcome of their students.
"This simply means that the school administrators should see to it that the school policies to be implemented are for the welfare of the students who are the clients of all learning institutions", Ugmad said.
Ugmad explained that the word "welfare" signifies the kind of education the school offers to their students. "This is very important for all of us particularly the youths who are the future leaders of our society. We cannot afford that since our region is recognized as the poorest region of the country, the education system we offer to our students is also poor", Ugmad added.
Meanwhile, DepEd-Caraga Assistant Regional Director Isabelita Borres who is one of the resource speakers emphasized the importance of public speaking. "Every leader must learn and develop their skills in public speaking in order to effectively disseminate the programs, projects and other information of DepEd to the public", Borres said.
With this training, DepEd officials hope that quality education can be attained which is also the priority program of the national government that will serve as a backbone in sustaining and uplifting the economic status of the country. (PIA-13) [top]
