Dumaguete City (25 May) -- The Department of Education (DepEd) launched "Oplan Balik Eskwela," a consolidated effort to facilitate the smooth opening of classes this June 14.
Part of Oplan Balik Eskwela is Brigada Eskwela, a week-long campaign that invites stakeholders to help out in preparing the schools to be conducive for students in the coming school year.
Provincial Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Victoria O. Galgo said that Brigada Eskwela is a great help to DepEd because it encourages other sectors in the community including the business sector to help in improving the quality of education offered in public schools.
Activities for Brigada Eskwela includes cleaning of public school campuses, repair of facilities and others. Taking part in these said activities are teachers, students, parents and other concerned citizens in the community.
Oplan Balik Eskwela also seeks to make more efficient the efforts from different government agencies to address the common problems during the opening of classes and to ensure that the students will be properly enrolled, facilities are in good condition and student transport fares are fair.
