Davao to host PICE National convention

Davao City (7 June) -- Davao chapter of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) will host this year's Nationa Midyearl Convention scheduled June 14-16, 2007 at the Grand Men Seng hotel, Davao City.

PICE National President Engr. Juanito P. Abergas announced that the 2007 National Midyear convention carries the theme: "PICE at 70: Civil Engineers Facing the Challenges of the New Millennium."

Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte is set to welcome the more than 3,000 delegates coming from all over the nation.

Engr. Ebergas, who was the former DPWH XI Director is now the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways and concurrent PICE National President.

PICE Davao chapter president Engr. Lizardo Remojo said the convention aims to enhance the Continuing Professional Development of our members and we are conducting a Two Mobile-Technical session which will include topics on the state of the art technologies related to the five Specialty Divisions of PICE: Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineers, Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering, Transportation Engineering & Construction Management and Engineering.

The National Midyear convention will feature the PICE construction technologies, services and building material exhibits, Fellowship night. PICE's student program includes the 8th National Civil Engineering Students' Summit and 5th Bridge Building Competition where civil engineering students coming from the provinces from North to South will congregate and interact with each other.

According to the 1st National Vice President and convention bureau chair, Willy T. Go, PICE members in 96 chapters from Aparri to Jolo belonging to government departments, agencies and offices, construction companies, consulting firms, colleges and universities are expected to attend this annual event.
