Davao re-engineering plan seen to benefit employees

by Prix D Banzon

Davao City (19 June) -- The re-engineering plan of the Davao City government must be done at a point where it will be beneficial to the employees.

Davao City Councilor Angela Librado expressed this view during the SM-Davao Press Club Kapehan sa Dabaw Monday at the Pizza Hut Restaurant of SM Mall, Davao City.

Although she does not have as yet a clear view on the plan but said the move is to try to examine the city government's various departments.

"There could be assessment to see whether positions are redundant or perhaps try to enhance the effectiveness of every department," she said.

Librado, however, sees the need to determine whether the plan had passed thorough consultations and the matter being brought up to the employees.

"My personal stand on this is to view it on the issue of low salaries and wages and unemployment with so many people unable to find a job," she said.

The Davao City government has over 3,000 workers deployed in the various departments covering the city. (PIA XI) [top]
