Leyte chamber partners with gov't for Leyte business month in October

Tacloban City (July 6) -- In a tangible display of partnership between the government and the private sector to bring about change and development in society, the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the province of Leyte took the lead in the organization of the Technical Working Group that will be responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and managing the month-long celebration of the month of October as Leyte Province Business Month.

The organization of the Technical Working group was conducted on July 5 at the LCCI Office located at the Leyte SME Center, Capitol Site, Tacloban City.

LCCI President Orlando Uy said that the agencies invited which are the key players in the socio-economic development of the province, have been identified as the institutions that must play a very active and critical role to ensure the success of the project.

Mr. Uy said that project is pursuant to Leyte Province Ordinance No. 07-02 series of 2007 entitled "Declaring the Month of October as Leyte Business Month." Each of the identified agencies are requested to come up with activities in connection with the Business Month celebration.

The Technical Working Group in its meeting July 5 agreed to adopt the theme "Together We Can Do" for the first ever celebration of Leyte Province Business Month. The agencies also pledge their respective support to the project and to coordinate and compliment each other in order to make it easier for prospective investors to relocate in the province by streamlining the requirements which currently is a big hindrance to the coming in of more investments.

Among the invited agencies are the National Economic and Development Authority, Department of Tourism, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Labor and Employment, TESDA, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Professional Regulatory Commission and the Philippine Information Agency.
