Davao City (6 July) -- Womynet, an organization composed of various women associations has been advocating anti-porno materials for the protection of the young adding that the government have to find out the possibility of stopping the circulation of indecent materials along city thoroughfares that carries malicious ponographic issues.
Womynet executive director Sis Josephine Bacaltos said instead the people should promote good moral values, decent families, and good character and for Dabawenyos to be God-fearing citizen.
City Councilor Pilar Braga, also an advocate of indecent materials who now heads the City Council"s committee on energy, transportation and telecommunication, is also leading the campaign on anti-porno materials.
Last year, Councilor Braga led the stoppage on the circulation of "Brigada" tabloid in Davao City because of the "malicious and pornographic" content of one of its columns, "Sexperience".
As an advocate of indecent and porno materials, the Womynet said they have to promote moral values instead and tabloid or newspapers should avoid carrying issues containing lurid descriptions of sexual act that would leave something malicious in the minds of the readers especially the young.
"We should be wary of newspaper tabloids like "Sexperience" column of Brigada and such kind of newspapers should not circulate in our city", Sis Jo said.
"We should object to this kind of indecent materials as we are advocating parents and all decent and law abiding citizen of Davao City to be watchful of," Sis Jo added.
"Instead of indecent materials that might proliferate in our city, we should advocate good moral values, decent families, good governance and good character", she further stressed. (PIA XI) [top]
