65 Davao social workers to take oath

Davao City (16 August) -- The Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. (PASWI) Davao City chapter will lead the Oath Taking Ceremonies of the new social work board passers today Thursday, August 16 at Lantawan Hall, Royal Mandaya Hotel.
PASWI Davao president Liwayway A. Caligdong said the 65 new social workers are graduates of Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Notre Dame of Marbel University, Ateneo De Davao University, Cotabato City State Polytechnic College, Notre Dame of Tacurong College, Siliman University, Holy Cross of Davao College and University of Mindanao.
Caligdong said Director Josephine Villegas-Liamzon of the Professional Regulation Commission shall serve as oath taking officer.
Two of the new social workers placed 8th during the recent BSSW Board Examinations, Caligdong added.
Following the oath taking rites and honoring of parents along with the BSSW program coordinators from the seven schools, the new social workers shall be installed as new PASWI members.
Founded on November 12, 1947 and a member of the International Federation of Social Workers, PASWI provides its members and partners opportunities for continuing professional education and career advancement.
Among PASWI Davao's major activities include capacity building for volunteer caregivers through the program Neighborhood Support Services for Older Persons, and mobilization and deployment of volunteers for community outreach initiatives, Caligdong said. (DSWD/PIA XI) [top]
