Alay Lakad set August 16

Davao City (16 August) -- The Davao City Alay Lakad Organization (DCALO) in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), City Social Services and Development Office and the Rotary Club of Davao will spearhead the Alay Lakad Para Sa Kabataan today, August 16.
As a national mechanism to promote the development of disadvantaged youth, Alay Lakad is recognized by the government through Proclamation No. 168.
Alay Lakad aims at increasing public awareness on issues confronting the out-of-school youth and other disadvantaged youth; recognizing the youth's contribution in nation building; and generating funds to finance the sector's various projects like livelihood, scholarship, capacity building and life skills training.
DCALO President Arnold D. Navales of the Rotary Club of Davao said other supporters of the event are the offices of DENR, DILG, DOH, Traffic Management Group, PNRC, PDEA, Coca Cola Bajada, EMCOR Bajada and other partner agencies in Davao Region.
Participants shall begin the walk at six in the morning from Rizal Park traversing through San Pedro St., Quimpo Blvd., Sandawa, McArthur Highway Matina then finish off at Matina Town Square with a program where National Youth commissioner Priscilla Marie Abante is keynote speaker.
Navales said expected to join the Walk For A Cause is over 300 individuals from the private sector, government, non-government and civil society organizations. This year's theme is Lakad Bayan Para Sa Kaunlaran, Navales added. (DSWD/PIA XI) [top]
