1st Leyte Business Month celebration slated this October

Tacloban City (September 1) -- The Province of Leyte will be hosting the 1st Leyte Business Month Celebration dubbed as " Together We Can" this coming October. Activities that will be showcased and services from among participating National Government Agencies (NGAs), will highlight this one of a kind event.

Among the services are competency assessments, auto servicing, driving, PC operation, shielded metal arc welding, machining, pipe fitting, electronics servicing, building wiring installation, refrigeration and air-conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and computer hardware servicing on the part of the skilled workers who want to assist themselves of their capability or acquired skills.

Free assessment on the mentioned skilled work shall be undertaken by the Technical and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) at the regional training center.

Other services that will be showcased are on-line registration of business permit to be handled by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Training course on food handling and meal management for the food service industry to be conducted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and other services and product demonstration, display of information technology facilities and equipment are part of the one-month celebration. Stakeholders from business are likewise part of the ongoing celebration with the participation of the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) as the leading partners in complementing Leyte as the haven of business in Region 8.

The whole month of October is a tribute of the province of Leyte and the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) to the people they owe.

"Job creation is a priority for any nation to move forward," Mr. Orlando Uy, president of the Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry which is spearheading the month-long activity said.

Success doesn't happen overnight. It's the small success achieved day by day that build a company. So don't be impatient or focused on immediate financial records.

According to John Gokongwei, owner of Gokongwie holdings company, To build a successful business we're not afraid of change but we're in fact excited by it. Globalization can be your greatest enemy. It will be your downfall if you are too afraid and too weak to fight it out. But it can be your biggest ally' he said.

Jobs are what allow people to feel useful and build their self-esteem. Jobs make people productive members of the community. Jobs make people feel they are worthy citizens and jobs make a country worthy players in the world market.

In that order of things, it's the entrepreneurs who have the power to harness the creativity and talents of other.
