East Visayas booth shines at 18th Philippine Travel Mart
Tacloban City (September 10) -- The Eastern Visayas Booth is described as one of the most attractive and most photographed booth in the 18th Philippine Travel Mart which started on September 7 and will run until September 9, 2007 at the Megatrade Halls of SM Megamall.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 8 Director Karina Rosa Tiopes happily informed that the Eastern Visayas booth which is artistically and intricately decorated with wooden beads which are products of the Region.
Most of the visitors of the booth couldn't help but take pictures as the booth of Eastern Visayas has always been known for its unique design, Director Tiopes said.
What makes the Eastern Visayas booth really attractive is the participation of the Region's provinces, Leyte, Biliran, Southern Leyte, Samar and Northern Samar and the cities of Baybay, Ormoc, Maasin and Calbayog, Director Tiopes added.
Aside from the local government participation, the Eastern Visayas booth was also participated by the private sector, the Leyte Gulf Travel and Tours represented by Ms. Ludette Ruiz and Ms. Helly Asoy, Director Tiopes said.
No less than Tourism Secretary Ace Durano was the keynote speaker during the opening of the 18th Philippine Travel Mart which was participated this year by no less than 160 locators.
The Opening of the Philippine Travel Mart was also made more significant with the presence of Senate Committee on Tourism Chairman, Senator Richard Gordon and the House of Representatives Committee on Tourism Chairman Edgar Chato of Bohol.
Annually organized by the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA), Department of Tourism and the Philippine Convention and Visitors Corporation, the three-day event features tourism areas in the country.
"Everything's Here For You" is the adopted theme to emphasize the Philippine Travel Mart's distinction in the market at the country's one-stop reference on tour packages and the various components of travel such as transport, accommodations, dining, banquets, convention sites, traditional and new media marketers and promoters.
