DOLE looks for model employee, employer

Davao City (13 September) -- Recognizing outstanding employers and employees from the private sector is one of the Department of Labor and Employment's ways in promoting and maintaining industrial peace.

Recently, DOLE's Tripartite Industrial Peace Council has partnered with the Rotary of East Davao for the Search for the 2007 Outstanding Employer and Employee in the Private Sector.

The competition seeks for deserving employer and employee who deserve to be awarded for their work performance, social responsibility, leadership, management relations, industry leadership, and concern for worker's welfare and protection.

The search is open to all establishment and workers in Davao City, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley Province.

For the employees category, the Human Resource Manager of the company will provide the nomination form to the nominee while nominated employers will be provided with forms by the DOLE City/Provincial offices. Required documents will have to be submitted before the scheduled deadline on October 15.

DOLE XI regional director Ponciano Ligutom that coming up with activities like this could promote strong employees' morale, boost efficiency, improve productivity, encourage social responsibility and accountability.

The Rotary of East Davao, as the major sponsor, committed to institutionalize this event and make it an annual competition.

Rotary of East Davao official Efren Elbanbuena said, "There are many rotary clubs here in the region. We will have to urge them to join Rotary of East Davao in supporting this activity," he said.

The awarding of prizes in the city and provincial level will be on November 5 to 9, while the awarding ceremonies for the regional winners is set on December 8. (PIA XI) [top]
