MBLT-6 conducts blood letting in Basilan

Isabela City, Basilan (17 September) -- In relation with its 31st Activation Day, the Marine Battalion Landing Team - 6 conducted a blood letting activity, with a theme: "Dugo Ko, Alay sa Kapwa Pilipino", held at its headquarters at Brgy. Cabunbata, Isabela City, Basilan on 14 Sept 2007.

In a press release, LTC Jessie Bugayong PN (M), the Commanding Officer of MBLT-6, said that this yearly undertaking is a reflection of the military's sincere commitment to help save lives.

"It's our commitment to protect the lives of the people we serve. We share our blood to save lives, not only of our soldiers, but of every Filipino," Lt. Col. Bugayong stressed.

Setting an example, Brig. Gen Juancho Sabban AFP himself, the Task Force Thunder Commander, donated 500 cc of blood. As a regular blood donor, he said, "aside from helping others, you are also helping yourself, because it is healthy to donate blood."

Around 28,800 cc of blood were donated from 64 donors. Aside from the members of the Philippine Marine Corps, members of the Civilian Active Auxiliary composed the donors' list.

Meanwhile, 1Lt Abadeo G Desingano PN (M), CMO / S-5 Officer MBLT-6, mentioned that besides the mass blood donation activity, a shoot fest will also be conducted and a mass will be celebrated on the actual foundation day on Sunday (Sept. 16). Moreover, the outstanding Philippine Marines will also be awarded as recognition to their exemplary performance, gallantry, commitment, and dedication to service.

1Lt Desingano reiterated that today's soldiers are not only at the forefront of peace efforts, but also, the vanguard in the development efforts. (4CRG/PIA-BASULTA) [top]
