Koronadal City (28 September) -- "Handog titulo" is a continuing program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) that aims to promote social justice and to help poor landowners uplift their living conditions.

In North Cotabato, some 500 farmer beneficiaries of "Handog Titulo" received their land titles during the opening of the Agri-Livestock Fair haled at the La Pavilion at the Provincial Capitol Complex in Animas, Kidapawan last 30 August 2007.

The affair coincided with the celebration of the Hinugyaw Festival on the occasion of the 93th Foundation anniversary of the province.

1,500 more titles are distributed at the Regional Office of the Director in Barangay Amas, Kidapawan City to have a total of 2,000 land titles covering more or less 5,000 hectares of alienable and disposable lands in Kidapawan City and various other municipalities of North Cotabato.

While reassuring the beneficiaries of technology and technival assistance from the DENR, Undersecretary for Staff Bureaus Manuel D. Gerochi asked them to make their lands prolific. He said that their dream is to make te ordinary farmers rich enough to develop their lives and the uplands accessible to the people. (wrb/PIA 12) [top]
