By Rose B. Palacio
Davao City (2 October) -- All practicing bookkeepers are required to attend a whole day "Tax Updates and Enhancement" seminar on October 4, 2007 (Thursday) at the Bureau of Internal Revenue Revenue District Office (BIR-RDO) located at F. Torres Street, Davao City spearheaded by BIR XI Director Atty. Marcelinda Omila-Yap and RDO Jose Eric Furia.
Davao Bookkeepers & Services Association president Julia C. Marcojos urged all members, including non-members but practicing bookkeeper to attend the forum to keep abreast of the latest developments or amendments if any on tax laws and requirements.
A minimal seminar fee of P350.00 is required to pay for the snacks and materials needed for every participant. Interested participants can contact Susan Tusoy, BIR RDO assessment division chief or Beth Quitain at 227 1833.
Meanwhile, bookkeepers, certified public accountants (CPAs) and those individuals or associations whose services are related on taxes are encouraged to inform their employers or companies on the ongoing tax amnesty being provided by government.
Any taxpayer, individual or corporation, who have not settled their tax accounts with the BIR are now given the chance to avail of the tax amnesty offered by the administration.
Implementing rules and regulations or IRR are now available for the implementation of Republic Act 9480, known as "An Act Enhancing Revenue Administration and Collection by Granting an Amnesty on All Unpaid Internal Revenue Taxes Imposed by the National Government for Taxable Year 2005 and Prior Years."
Taxpayers may get the IRR for the Tax Amnesty program either at the BIR regional office along San Pedro or at the RDO office located at FTorres Street, Davao City so you will be guided on how to avail of the amnesty, according to RDO Furia.
The amnesty program is only good for six months. Avail of the Tax Amnesty as early as possible to avoid any unnecessary notices such as letters of authority or audit notices, or verification notices. (BIR/PIA) [top]
