Davao City (2 October) -- Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosario is reviving the plan to rehabilitate and improve the decrepit provincial sports complex located in Mangkilam, Tagum City.
Speaking before members of the Davao del Norte media during an episode of the weekly Kapihan sa Kapitolyo last Thursday (Sept. 27) in the provincial capitol in Tagum. Governor del Rosario hopes to put up a modern grandstand in lieu of the old wooden stand which burned down many years ago and also put in place a modern rubberized track-and-field oval.
Del Rosario hopes the project can be started by next year and hopes the new facilities can be used by young people. The Governor also said that the oval can also charge some fees for its use as it can be used as for early morning jogging.
The provincial sports complex used to host the Palarong Panlalawigan, which is the yearly provincial athletic meet. Santo Tomas Municipality has taken over its hosting chores also ably hosting the Davao Regional Atheltic Association meet last year carving its niche as Davao del Norte sports capital.
The improvement of the Sports Complex in Mankilam is part of the RDR WHEELS executive agenda of the Governor. (PIA XI) [top]
