PNP to conduct shooting competition for lower Magat Eco-Tourism Park
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (October 9) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) is in the process of coordinating with concerned agencies in the province to raise funds for the development of the Lower Magat Eco-Tourism Park (LMETP) in Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya.
Police Sr. Supt. Segundo Duran, Jr., provincial director said they are presently coordinating with the provincial government for the conduct of the 2nd Governor Luisa Ll. Cuaresma Cup Invitational Shootfest to be held from December 7 to 9 this year.
"The purpose of the proposed shootfest is to raise funds for the various environmental programs and projects for the Lower Magat Eco-Tourism Park, promote the project itself since this will be participated by gun enthusiasts from all over the country and to promote proper gun handling not only among the law enforcers but also among the civilian population," Duran told PIA.
He said they are now coordinating with the Philippine Practical Shooting Association(PPSA) for their assistance and sanctioning of the 5-stage course into a level 1 competition.
With this project, Duran said they expect to raise sufficient funds to help the provincial government in developing the LMETP into a tourism attraction in the province.
"We are therefore inviting our gun enthusiasts to participate to this noble undertaking so that our proposed projects for the LMETP will be realized," he stressed.
In 2003, the 1st Governor Luisa Ll. Cuaresma Cup was held in Diadi town which was also assisted by the local government units, PNP and the PPSA.
Duran said that another shooting competition will be conducted sometime in January 2008 which will be dubbed Provincial Director's Cup to raise funds for the various programs and projects of the PNP in the province. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
