By Rachelle M. Nessia

Dumaguete City (14 October) -- The Department of Health (DOH) has issued a nationwide dengue fever alert in view of the increasing number of dengue in the country.

According to a DOH report, Region 6 has the most number of Dengue victims, followed by Region 7 and the National Capital Region.

In Negros Oriental, records from DOH here show a total of 773 dengue patients here as of October 4 this year, with five deaths.

Dumaguete City holds the most number of dengue cases with 159, followed by Sibulan, 101, and Bacong, 85.

However, DOH said this year's statistics on dengue cases in the province is no cause for alarm.

"Dili kaayo alarming kay gamay ra man ang increase this year kumpara sa last year. Ug ang mortality cases dili pud sya dug-ol gyud," said Cristita Gloria, local DOH surveillance officer.

It can be recalled that in the same period last year, 748 patients fell victim to the dengue fever. (PIA) [top]
