ICOT Park in Leyte welcomes 1st locator

Tacloban City (October 18) -- The Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS, Inc.), one of the biggest business process outsource and IT company in the United States, is the first call center locator of the PEZA-declared ICOT Park in the province of Leyte.

ACS, Inc. will start its operations at the Leyte Academic Center Gymnasium of the Leyte ICOT Park in January as was announced during the launching of the Technology Business Incubator for ICT-Based SMEs on October 17.

ACS, Inc. which is currently holding offices in Makati, its first branch in the Philippines, is currently in serious talk with Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla in Manila to finalize some terms of the contract for the company's location at the PEZA declared IT Park.

ACS, Inc. provides technology, people, and process expertise for mission-critical, non-core business functions through its BPO solutions including design, implementation, and ongoing management of large and small systems, networks, and enterprises for its IT services.

Gov. Petilla, during the Press Conference early this month at his office at the Provincial Capitol confirmed that the American investors will initially open up to 200 seats but is targeting 1,200 seats in the next two years.

Governor Petilla is especially eyeing the angle of employment opportunities for the qualified constituents of Leyte and the entire Region 8, which the company will generate once it starts operations at the ICOT Park.

Governor Petilla does not get tired in his continuous luring of BPO and IT companies in Manila and in other parts of the world to locate in Leyte saying the province is already more than capable to accommodate such companies.

Governor Petilla, in fact, is not only doing this for the province of Leyte but for the entire Eastern Visayas Region which is envisioned to become an IT hub in the next few years. (PIA 8) [top]
