RDC XI conducts private sector reps orientation

by ET Isidro

Davao City (20 October) -- The Regional Development Council (RDC) XI, the highest policy-making body of the region has successfully conducted the Orientation-Forum for the Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) of RDC XI yesterday at the Garden Oases Restaurant, Porras Street, Bo. Obrero, Davao City. The PSRs were confirmed by the Council during its reorganizational meeting last 11 August 2007. They will serve as regular members of the Council for the term 2007-2010.

RDC XI Vice-chairperson and NEDA XI Regional Director Nicasio Angelo J. Agustin revealed that the forum is a first among all RDCs in the country. Agustin said that the forum intends to orient the Council's newly installed twelve (12) PSRs on Davao Region's current thrusts and priorities and its long-term framework for development.

Dr. Ma. Iris Melliza of the Holy Cross of Davao Colleges, representing the academe sector shared that the forum also provided them the venue to discuss their concerns as regional development partners. Dr. Melliza informed that they are planning to form an e-group so that each PSR is updated on the activities of the RDC XI.

In his message, Director Agustin wished that the PSR forum would be conducted regularly so that the private sector can take an active role in decision-making for regional development.

The PSRs on the other hand, expressed appreciation on the conduct of the activity as the intention to build their capacity is very clear to them. (NEDA/PIA XI) [top]
