NSO's FP survey results, data presentation slated Friday

By Rose B. Palacio

Davao City (26 October) -- The National Statistics Office (NSO) will hold a Regional Data Presentation on the results of the 2006 Family Planning survey today Friday (Oct 26) at Grand Regal hotel, Lanang Davao City from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

NSO OIC-regional director Raul Gomez said the 2006 family planning survey is the tenth of the annual FP surveys conducted in conjunction with the NSO's quarterly Labor Force Survey conducted since 1995.

The most recent FP survey was conducted in April 2006 with 51,000 women aged 15-49 years old who were interviewed on product estimates at the national, for urban and rural areas, each of the 17 regions.

The FP survey was designed to provide an up-to-date information on family planning and maternal and child health to assist policymakers and program managers in evaluating and designing strategies for improving FP and maternal and child health services in the country.

The data presentation is one of the highlights of the month-long (October) National Statistics activity being held throughout the country.

The observance of the National Statistics month will be a step towards promoting, enhancing and instilling nationwide awareness and appreciation on the importance and values that statistics provide the different sectors of our society, while at the same time insuring the support of the public at large in improving and enhancing the quality and standard of statistics in the country.

The October month-long National Statistics celebration is being celebrated every year as per Proclamation number 647. (PIA XI) [top]
