Taiwanese investors to forge partnership with Davao businessmen

Davao City (26 October) -- A delegation of Taiwenese businessmen arrive in Daqvao City for a possible joint venture agreement with small and medium enterprises.
Davao City's DTI director Teolulo Pasawa who heads the National Research and Business Assistance Center (NERBAC) here said they will provide the delegates a clear picture of the region's investment potentials as these businessmen are keen on forging investments with partners here.
As part of the investment briefing, the Department of Agriculture will give inputs about the present food industry situationer in Davao. The briefing will be conducted by Regional Technical Director Romulo Palcon of DA XI.
DTI XI assistant regional director Marizon S. Loreto said the activity will further open doors of opportunities for the region as the 14 Taiwanese businessmen will be encouraged to pour in their investments here.
She said these businessmen are keen on investing in the food sector even as she assured that the food sector in the region is booming.
Loreto pointed out that food association in the Davao Region help in propelling the growth of the food industry.
The region, she said, has the Food Processors Association of Davao (FPAD) that actively promotes the industry. The branding project spearheaded by the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) is also one tool that supports the promotion of products aiming to penetrate the world market.
Product that carries the seal of 'Davao Quality' symbolizes that the product has passed the stringent guidelines and requirements undertaken by an inter-agency body.
She said the Taiwan Mission is an offshoot of the Republic of the Philippines Mission to Taiwan in June 2006 where food-exporting companies had the opportunity to observe the Taiwan Food Show and Technology Exposure.
The Taiwan mission to Davao is scheduled in complementation with the Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines - East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP EAGA) event held in Davao City this week. (PIA XI) [top]
