Vigorous campaign indicates barangay leaders' readiness to serve - Dureza

Davao City (27 October) -- The vigorous campaigning for all available positions in the nationwide barangay elections this coming Monday is an indication on the readiness of barangay leaders to serve.
Presidential adviser on the peace process Secretary Jesus Dureza made the observation as the nationwide barangay elections for the positions of Kagawad, Barangay Captains and representatives to the Sangguniang Kabataan draws near.
Dureza was asked to comment on the enthusiasm showed by barangay leaders which he said were unheard of in previous conduct of the polls in the barangay level.
He also said that all indications of the weeklong campaigning point to an expected good turn out in the polling precincts on Monday, October 29, 2007. Dureza made the comments as a sidelight to his visit to the closing ceremonies of the Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia Philippines– East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) senior minister's conference at the Marco Polo Hotel of Davao City.
In the same interview conducted by GMA-7 Davao City, media personnel of the City Information Office (CIO) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA XI), Secretary Dureza also made mentioned on the full presidential pardon granted to former president Joseph Ejercito Estrada.
He said President Arroyo's act augurs well for the call towards national reconciliation, peace and unity. (PIA XI) [top]
