Bugasong promotes sports tourism

San Jose, Antique (30 October) -- The Municipal Government of Bugasong promotes its Sports Tourism Program by holding first ever Chess Tournament at Estaka View Deck at Estaka Hills, Bugasong yesterday.
Mayor Bernard N. Pesayco in his earnest effort to promote sport tourism invited sport minded enthusiasts especially those with in the chess interests to join the said tournament. It is open in all categories/age level.
"Estaka" hill is a known historical landmark of Bugasong, which served as hide out of the natives when the Moro pirates attacked during the Hispanic time. "Estaka" is a local term that means stocking or piling of stones to protect the natives when attacked by the invaders.
In the previous administration the place was improved having a concrete stairway with more than a hundred steps upward and atop the hill lies the viewing hut where you can see the scenic beauty of Bugasong in all angles.
Meanwhile, the Antique Sports Organizers and Athletic Association in coordination with Bugasong Ventures will hold an Open Duathlon Relay on November 1, 2007 at the Municipal Plaza to add more meaning to the Halloween celebration and also in support to the sports tourism program.
Bikers and runners are invited to join the competition where prizes are at stake including the Best Halloween Costume. The Duathlon Relay includes 5 kilometers run, 18 kilometers bike and 5 kilometers run along the highway of Bugasong to Laua-an ending at the Municipal Plaza of Bugasong. (Bugasong/PIA) [top]
