Kapalong observes Nacoco Week

KAPALONG, Davao del Norte (31 October) -- October 24-31 marks the 12th National Correctional Consciousness (NACOCO) Week and Kapalong District Jail Warden J/Insp Peregrino L Romero has line-up multi-sectoral participatory program of activities for the inmates, here.
The celebration opens on October 24 with a short program dubbed as "kasaulogan" attended by Mayor Edgardo L. Timbol, Vice Mayor Romy Estrada and other national government offices within the jail together with the BJMP personnel and inmates.
Mayor Timbol commends the efforts of Warden Romero for providing a safe, sanitary and healthy jail for inmates and BJMP personnel.
Other activities line-up for the week are Paralegal day on October 25 sponsored by the Municipal Trial Circuit Court, LGU visitation day on October 26 sponsored by Mayor Timbol and LGU Officials, Religious Day on October 27, Medical and Dental Health on October 30 sponsored by the Rural Health Unit, and Drug Abuse Symposium on October 31.
"Our inmates have heart, mind and feelings that seek the sympathy and support of the people. I seek for your support in kind to enkindle the feeling of the inmates who are undergoing rehabilitation especially that they are far from their families," Warden Romero said during the LGU convocation.
Warden Romero with his almost two months in Kapalong District Jail reported his accomplishments among which are :sanitation of the jail, rehabilitation of ceiling, clean-up and the provision of a well ventilated cell for inmates and its surroundings.
The week long celebration of Kapalong District Jail is attuned to BJMP vision "a dynamic institution highly regarded for its humane safekeeping and development of inmates".
Kapalong District Jail have eight (8) personnel including the Warden. BJMP plan for inmates sustainable program are vegetable production and other skills training to provide income generating projects while undergoing rehabilitation stage. (MIO/PIA XI) [top]
