Former Senate president graces PICPA Region 8
Tacloban City (15 November) -- In one of his rare visits in the Region, Former Senate President Franklin Drilon arrives in Tacloban City today as the guest of honor and speaker at the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants-Eastern Visayas and the Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines, Inc.- Eastern Visayas Chapter, First Government Accountant's Forum.
PICPA Eastern Visayas Region President and AGAP-EV President Renato L. Limsiaco, Jr informed that Former Senator Drilon is scheduled to attend the blessing and inauguration of the PICPA Tacloban Office and Development Center at Melecio Tan Building along Zamora St. in Tacloban City.
Afterwards, the former senator will meet the local media in a Press Conference which will be held at the PICPA office, Mr. Limsiaco added.
At 9:30 in the morning, former Senator Drilon will grace the First Government Accountants Forum at the Kanhuraw Convention Center. The Forum has for its theme"Synergy4 Value."
Among the guests during the forum are Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez, Leyte Governor Carlos Jerico L. Petilla and Ms. Evely Chun Peng, AWC Chair of PICPA National Board.
Hon. Franklin Drilon is scheduled to leave for Manila immediately after his talk at the Forum, Mr. Limsiaco informed.
Former Senator Drilon served as secretary of labor and employment, justice secretary and executive secretary during the Aquino Administration. During the term of President Ramos, he was appointed as Justice Secretary once more.
Buttressed by his outstanding performance in the three cabinet positions entrusted to him, Drilon ran for the Senate in 1995 until in 2001, he was elected as Senate President of the 12th Congress until the end of the second regular session of the 13th Congress earning for himself the distinction of being the Senate President who held the position the longest at the post EDSA years.
