Novo Vizcayano named NCIP head
STA. FE, Nueva Vizcaya (November 15) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo recently appointed Rizalino "Langley" Segundo as commissioner of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples(NCIP).
Segundo replaced Commissioner Corazon Espino, who also hails from Solano town here.
Segundo who belongs to the Ikalahan-Kalanguya tribe hails from barangay Imugan in this town. He was appointed by President Arroyo after passing the screening process of the NCIP Advisory Search Committee headed by Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman.
Segundo spent most of his student years as leader of inter-tribal organizations and other cultural groups.
He served as sectoral representative in the National Anti-Poverty Commission(NAPC) from 2001 to 2005 and currently the chairman of the Indigenous Peoples Sectoral Council.
