Mindanao extensively promoted in Travex Kuching

Davao City (16 November) -- The Travel Exchange in Kuching, Malaysia gave Mindanao extensive promotions for its culture, food and crafts.
BIMP EAGA Tourism Council chairperson Mary Ann Montemayor bared that Philippines and Mindanao made a good showing at the Travex where events hosted by the Filipinos never miss the front and inner pages of their newspapers.
"It was a good experience for the Filipinos where their talents were highlighted," she said.
The Marco Polo Hotel she said was chosen for the Kuching Travex because of its being the best in the industry and where recently it got the Hall of Fame Award during the Mindanao Culinary Festival.
She said Marco Polo represented the cuisine category, Koronadal for cultural presentation and Caraga Region for singing.
The Philippines during the Travex hosted a dinner for 600 guests where Filipino chefs of Marco Polo prepared the food that includes among others five-piece appetizer with kinilaw and adobo with garnishings.
She said the menu was a fusion of Malay and Filipino cuisines.
"It was a fine dining setting and the guests ate for two hours where they were entertained with cultural presentations in between," she said.
Stanley Lao, manager of Marco Polo Davao said that they will continue to support the industry as they were grateful of given the chance to offer Filipino cuisine around the world through the Travex.
He said Marco Polo will be there to support Mindanao's tourism promotion and marketing campaign. (PIA) [top]
