Gov't to state workers: make honest and loyal service a habit
By Rose B. Palacio
Davao City (8 December) -- The Administration is calling on government workers to make honesty, loyalty, and service to the people a habit. In the verge of progress and growing economy essential services must be delivered to the people.
Let us remain focused on the tasks at hand, said Davao City 2nd district representative Vincent Garcia as he rallied on his constituent to focus on development in our area of responsibility for the benefit of our barangay people.
The country's economy, which is now on an extended bull run as seen in higher than-ever overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) remittances, a very strong peso, bullish stock market, low inflation rate, stable interest rates and increasing investments, could be sustained with the support from our constituents as we "work hard and dedicated for our people."
Congressman Garcia, who is also a member of the committee on economic affairs of the House of Representatives said the Administration is pursing strategies leading to an integrated island economy that will boost competitiveness in agriculture and industry sectors.
We have our own resource-rich Mindanao island that can lead the country's economic development. All it needs is an island-wide effort to jump-start its economy to develop the full potentials of Mindanao, Garcia said.
He said infrastructures are being improved to interconnect the island's regions, economic links are being established with the East Asean Growth Area (EAGA) and the rest of the world to expand the markets of Mindanao producers.
He said the government remains firmly committed to peace and resolving all differences peacefully.
Government is truly bent on pursing the economic development in Mindanao. All avenues are being explored to transform the area into a booming and active sphere of economic prosperity. But in order to accelerate development, it is essential that we get the support and active participation of communities with emphasis on rural development and productive infrastructure projects in the region, he said.
Although basically an agriculture area, the potential of Mindanao for wide industrial development is enormous. Its strategic location, at the center of Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia, has earned for Mindanao the title of "Gateway to the East Asean region," he further said. (PIA XI) [top]
