Leyte gov inducts Region 8 administrators' new set of officers
Tacloban City (December 15) -- Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla inducted on December 13, the new set of officers of the Region Eight Administrators League (REAL).
The induction followed the election which was earlier held at the Don Joseph Pavillon of the Leyte Park Resort Hotel in Tacloban City. The activity was incorporated in the annual meeting and Christmas Party of REAL.
Governor Petilla, in his speech after inducting the new set of officers, hailed REAL as a powerhouse that can do so much for the development of the province of Leyte and the Region as a whole.
Governors come and go, but the Regional Directors will always be there to provide services of the National Government to the people, Governor Petilla said, in recognition of the national agencies' support to the local government units.
Governor Petilla said he realized soon after his assumption as Governor of Leyte that for his province to prosper, there is an urgent need for him to coordinate with the Regional Administrators.
That is the reason why he couldn't afford to ignore the invitation of REAL even if his previous engagement was in the distant municipality of San Isidro where he facilitated the surrender of rebel returnees and their supporter. Also surrendered were two highpowered firearms, Governor Petilla said. The presence of civilian authorities aside from that of the military, is very important to the rebel returnees, Gov. Petilla revealed.
The new set of REAL Officers who were elected and inducted into office was led by Manager Flor Menzon of PAG-IBIG, who was elected as the new president. She took over the reins of the organization from LTO Director Raul Aguilos who served for three consecutive years and is no longer qualified to run but he automatically becomes an ex-officio member of the board.
The other officers include DBM Director Imelda Laceras as vice president; Nutrition Council Coordinator Karina Santiago as secretary; PIA Director Olive Tiu as treasurer; DOT Director Karina Tiopes as assistant treasurer; DTI Director Cynthia Nierras as auditor; and CSC Director Rodolfo Encajonado as the Information Officer.
Inducted as members of the board were PNP Director Abner Cabalquinto, DA Director Leo Caneda, DOST Director Ed Esperancilla, DOH Director Tiogenes Baluma, PPA Director Elizalde; NTC Director Samuel Young, NFA Director Benjamin Marta and LTO Director Raul Aguilos as ex-officio member. (PIA 8) [top]
